Africa's Blight Is In The Environment

In the Year 2000, 276 million Africans had no access to safe water and a further 284 million had no connection with adequate sanitation, thanks to environmental neglect.

World Health Organisation country representative to Botswana, Dr Jean Kalilani, made these observations at a consultative meeting of Environmental Health Strategic Plan Stakeholders held at the University of Botswana recently.  

The problem is particularly worse in deprived communities in Africa's rural and peri-urban communities.
