African Armyworm outbreak reaches Botswana

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced the outbreak of an African Armyworm, notorious for destroying a range of grass and crops.

The worm has been found in Mmopane, Gakgatla, Gweta, Makalamabedi, Shorobe, Shashe, Maun, Matlapana, Chanoga and Gumare.

In a press statement, the ministry stated that the worm is green when young and has black and white stripes on its sides when it matures; it measures approximately five centimetres in length.  It has a characteristic inverted 'V' shape on it's head and is said to belong to a family of moths.
