Accused refuses to pay new liquor law fine

FRANCISTOWN: The owner of Shashe Bridge Night Club, 51-year-old Barney Sefanyetso yesterday refused to settle a fine after he was charged for operating after hours.

Sefanyetso, who is accused along with his daughter, did not consider the court's advice to settle the fine, insisting he had valid reasons for operating after hours."Why did you not pay P500 rather than wasting time and your petrol?" asked Chief Magistrate Mokwadi Gabanagae.

Gabanagae said that he does not want people who waste court's time."I want serious cases, why didn't you go to the Kgotla?" asked Gabanagae.
