After almost a year since Lobatse Magistrate’s Court granted him leave to apply for bail, Tshepo Gabashe almost got one without opposition from the state. Justice Tshepo Motswagole set a new date for Gabashe's bail hearing after he failed to give a solid reason as to why he wanted or should be granted bail.

Gabashe, who originates from Mokgomane, is alleged to have on August 27, 2016 in Mokgomane village, killed his father, Olefile Gabashe after stabbing him with a knife following an argument. He also allegedly used a tyre lever in committing the crime.

In October 2016, a psychiatric evaluation report ruled that the accused person was fit to stand trial.
