About panic disorder

FRANCISTOWN: Panic Disorder is a type of anxiety attack that many people do not know much about although it has devastating effects on sufferers.

Speaking to Mmegi, Ponalo Gaamangwe, a Psychologist in Francistown Referral Hospital describes panic disorder as an occurrence of panic attacks that happen repeatedly, which last anything from a few seconds to a few minutes, but nevertheless extremely frightening and uncomfortable.

"During a panic attack someone can experience a pounding heart beat, dizziness, shortness of breathe, sweating, a sense of unreality and so on. Not all features are symptoms of a panic disorder; it is normal for every person to experience a panic attack," he said.
