Once again President Ian Khama is in trouble for what critics characterise as political incorrectness. He has called a Zimbabwean man, who is a Botswana government officer, a "Mokwerekwere".

This is a derogatory term often used to refer to a foreigner. It is usually used to make the victims feel that he/she is an unwanted outsider.  Addressing a Molepolole Kgotla meeting last Thursday, Khama is said to have called out at the man saying, "Hey Mokwerekwere ke wena, o bidiwa mang?" (Hey stranger what is your name?).

Some people are said to be very angry at what Khama said and when GabzFM, which played the recorded "derogatory" phrase, others called to register their displeasure, saying the President had been disrespectful.
