21 projects affected by standoff at SPTC

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Selebi-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) is currently operating without an Adjudication Committee due to a standoff between the mayor and councillors affecting the awarding of tenders for 21 projects before they can take off.

The councilors want the mayor Lekang Mukokomani out while he maintains that he is not stepping down until proper procedures to table a motion of no confidence are followed. The Adjudication Committee is responsible for procurement and awarding of tenders.

The projects affected include; a tender for the upgrading of the youth recreational facility that costs over P1 million, the supply and delivery of cooking gas to primary schools, the supply of protective clothing and footwear, the supply and delivery of cleaning materials, the supply and delivery of traditional attire for primary schools, supply and installation of fire alarms, smoke detectors and equipment in the administration centre.
