Results from Botswana Core Welfare Indicators Survey (BCWIS) show that 21 percent of rural households sometimes go for a day without food.

The objective of the survey was to provide comprehensive data and update information on income, expenditure, poverty datum line and other household characteristics needed for socio-economic planning, monitoring and evaluation processes.

Five questionnaires were administered for the survey, namely the household questionnaire, daily record (for receipts and daily household expenditure), community questionnaire (administered to community leaders), schools questionnaire and health questionnaire.
