17 die in road crashes

Left with only two weeks before Christmas, the police have started recording worrying numbers of people dying on national roads.

During the past week, 17 people were killed, bringing to 443 the number of people who have died this year compared to 380 reported last year.

In one of the accidents on the Francistown-Nata road (A3), four people died on December 3 when a minibus they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a haulage truck, about five kilometres from Nata. All the voctims were Zimbabweans.
Another four people died in a similar accident on the Gaborone-Francistown road (A1) near Gojwane junction in the Serule area. The deceased were identified as Zimbabweans.
