Gaborone’s entertainment scene is about to welcome a refreshing take on Valentine’s Day celebrations with the upcoming, Movie Under the Stars event. Spearheaded by its founder and leader, Mpho Gape Jonas, the initiative promises an enchanting outdoor movie experience for couples and lovers of unique entertainment.

Taking place on February 14, the event is a bold departure from the traditional dinner dates and will combine cinematic magic with heartfelt music and symbolic activities to create a memorable evening. Jonas revealed that the concept of hosting an outdoor movie night has been on his mind for some time. “I’ve always had the idea, but the fear of ‘bringing the difference’ was weighing on me. It was only after sharing the idea with friends and receiving positive feedback that I decided it was now or never,” he explained.

The timing could not be more appropriate, with Valentine’s Day offering a perfect backdrop for an event centered on love and togetherness. The event will feature screenings of two highly emotive films, The Fault in Our Stars and Five Feet Apart. Jonas believes these films resonate with deep human emotions and affection. “The emotions that these movies carry touch you as a person, but also, the affection is heavenly. Watching them outdoors under the stars with your loved one adds a unique dimension to the experience,” he noted.
