Tribute: Guitarist Andries Bok rests in peace

He rarely added lyrics to his songs and would insist, “why should I sing when my guitar can make music”. These were the words of the late folklore musician Andries Bok who died last week of liver complications. He was buried at his home village of Werda in Kgalagadi.

A shy person by nature, the guitar master never hit a wrong cord, or so he believed. He had transformed himself into a respected figure around the country through his rare brand of music, which has been dominant in Radio Botswana for decades.

His cousin Margaret Titus, told a gathering at his memorial service in Thapong Visual Arts Centre last week that so shy was Bok that they never imagined him dating.
