South African musician, Lehlogonolo Chauke, better known by his stage name Shebeshxt, is facing prison time in Botswana after a case was opened against him for failing to honour a performance he was booked for at the Simply Piano music show on December 2.

Lobatse Magistrate’s Court has issued a temporary order directing that the artist alongside one Peter Mogale be incarcerated at the Botswana Prisons Service facility pending finalisation of an action for damages. This is due to an alleged breach of agreement to be instituted against him by the event organisers, Boxyard (PTY) LTD.

Magistrate Thato Ramaja also ordered that Shebeshxt surrender his travellers’ documents particularly passports to the Deputy Sheriff to keep it in his/her custody pending the outcome of an action to be instituted by Boxyard. The temporary order issued on December 12, is returnable on January 10, 2023.

Shebeshxt is scheduled to perform at the Kgatleng Xmas Eve music show on December 24. It will not be the first time the Limpopo artist spends time behind bars after he was imprisoned in his country earlier this year for alleged violence including two counts of attempted murder.
