Mkuyana (L) with Chweneyagae on stage during the play

A scintillating performance from South Africans, Presley Chweneyagae and Andisiwe Mkuyana, left the audience asking for more at the Moving Space at Maruapula School on Saturday.

The two played characters Muzi and Noni respectively in a play titled Beautiful Things.  The play tells a tale of a man and woman are seeking forgiveness, personal growth and new love.  But the two are carrying baggage from their previous relationships, which they are looking to overcome before they can progress in life.  The two characters are colleagues at work and have become good and close friends.

The two gave a powerful performance characterised by emotional and edgy moments.  Muzi, a middle-aged man is attracted to Noni, but he does not have the courage to tell her how he feels. He gets the opportunity one day when he invites Noni for dinner at his house.  When he finally proposes her, Noni’s reaction is less than comforting to Muzi.  She tells Muzi that she does not want to have intimate relations with him, but is happy with their friendship.
