Four comediennes are set to share the stage in a one-night show dubbed Queens of Comedy, which is meant to inspire and motivate more women to consider a career in comedy. Comedians Enigma, Rekunde, Refilwe and Mosetsana are set to stage a show on August 15, 2015 at Avani, the former Gaborone Sun.

The comedy show has been made possible by Soul Food Events, which brought Ugandan comedienne, Anne Kansiime last year. The company also hosted a number of shows such as the Soul Food Comedy Nights.

“Queens of Comedy is a movement that puts the spotlight on women in comedy across the globe. We decided to join the franchise because we believe we need to have a focused and conscious approach towards supporting comedians,” Karabo Musa of Soul Food Events said. Musa who is optimistic that the event will open doors for female representation in the comedy industry, said Queens of Comedy would be an annual event that will see more female comedians taking part.
