The Play Fest took participants down memory lane as they played a number of childhood games at Bojanala Water Front on Saturday. The event was infused with traditional games and musical performances.

In its second instalment, the Play Fest had games such as chama, morabaraba, skonti ball, black mampatile, diketo, koi and dutch.

People of different age groups took turns playing the games. Some of the participants decided to form teams and challenge each other, making the games more fun and competitive. The majority of people who participated are middle-aged and they excitedly stated that the games reminded them of their childhood days. “The mandate of this social event includes uplifting the educative and cultural value of our traditional games.  ‘Metshameko Ya Setso’, have been neglected in the education system where more western sports are given priority,” Play Fest director, Mduduzi Madzwamuse said. While playing these games the young ones were also schooled on how these games are played.  Despite the heat, a large number of people participated in the games.  Casper the DJ and Strictly House Bound also participated in the traditional games.
