Mophato Dance Theatre celebrated traditional rainmaking practice with a beautiful and compelling show at the Maitisong Festival in Gaborone on Thursday.

From the people who settled in the arid desert where rains are shy to fall, Batswana have always valued the rain - they even named their currency after it - pula.

The country’s slogan, ‘Pula’ is a plea for rain. Traditionally, if the rains do not come the people consult traditional doctors to communicate with the gods to shower them with rains.
