Mogwe told Arts & Culture that the decision to participate in the upcoming international exhibition is part of his effort to increase his network and explore opportunities within the global creative space. Comic Con is an internationally acclaimed pop culture convention that celebrates the fusion of creativity, entertainment and visual arts. The event brings together a diverse community of artists, writers, illustrators, performers and enthusiasts who share a common passion for comics, science fiction, fantasy and other related genres.
Mogwe also said he will partake in the exhibition through his art learning institution, Africa Art College (AAC). He explained that the event will feature a wide range of activities such as artist alley, panels and workshops, cosplay contests, interactive exhibitions and live performances across the four days. Some renowned artists have been invited to share their experiences and insights with attendees for inspiration during the event. Mogwe, who seems to have also ventured into creating cartoons, disclosed that AAC is currently working on a new project. “We have been working on a manga project called BirthRyte. We intend to debut it at the Comic Con Africa so that we can easily reach a larger worldwide audience and collaborators to expand it further, either as an enime or mass-produced manga project,” Mogwe said. Furthermore, he said the manga project has the potential to advertise Botswana as a favourable location for the creation and dissemination of storytelling.
