After building up the hype and raising people’s curiosity, the inaugural Gaborone International Music and Culture Week opened its doors to the public last Wednesday with a poetry session.

The event, hosted at Botswanacraft, was held in the open arena under the evening skies and stars.

For such a laid back evening, the setting and atmosphere of the whole place attracted poetry lovers who had gathered to listen to wordsmiths as they poured out their hearts and souls with words. Despite the punchlines and everything in between from the poets, traditional dance group Mafitlhakgosi stole the show.
