Local poet, author and motivational speaker, Naomi Kalayakgosi, has published her second book titled, Purpose of Driven Success.

The book was published in Oct 2024 at Ahava. It has 63 pages and eight chapters. In an interview with Arts&Culture, Kalayakgosi said Purpose Driven Success was inspired by her love for writing and driven by a passion for sharing her ideas or dreams. “It is a motivational book and educational as well. I was thrilled by the way I see myself succeeding therefore I wanted to share my dream and experience with the world. From nothing, I became a poet, an author, motivational speaker without any training. All these are God-given talents inspired by love and determination. My target market is students, adults and the public at large,” she said confidently. Kalayakgosi further pointed out that so far her readers loved it and said it was an eye-opener as the book helped them to align with their purpose. She added that it was a mindset changer, as it could reverse people’s thoughts to realise their potential. She also said it helped in creativity because it could take its readers out of their comfort zone. Kalayakgosi also said her book also aims to help to pursue people’s goals and take action. She added that it was highly motivating, and could be useful to various people across different backgrounds; for example students, public officers and people in business.

She stated that readers defined it as an excellent resource for an introspective reader who seeks questions about his/her life condition and also addresses development needs. She also said the book laid a solid foundation by unapologetically letting the reader that success takes determination, focus and intention. Kalayakgosi indicated that the book teaches that acknowledging failure is an important part of the successful path. She added that the book unpacks the relevance of failure to one’s development. The book also addresses the connections between failure, determination, focus, and intention and explains how the connections can be exploited to achieve success. It provides a roadmap for bridging the gap between one’s current condition and preferred future state. “The book extensively clarifies the context of success, recognising and dealing with roadblocks. Lastly, it is very impactful upon people’s lives as a whole. However, publishing it was not easy as I faced some challenges such as a shortage of resources because I live in a village (Serowe) where there are no editors and publishers. Marketing is a major challenge because I have few audiences since I do not have marketing skills. I need support because I market it on my Facebook page and I am struggling with marketing it through other social media platforms,” she explained.

Additionally, she said she likes Chapter 2 of the book, Obstacles on Your Way to Success, saying she could relate to it as it talked of how she was delayed by lack of focus and poor time management and fear. Chapter 8, Waiting until you are ready, talks about the power of waiting and why waiting is important. As a woman of schedule and likes meeting deadlines, she said she works according to her vision. She added that she believes fully in her potential because she is driven by confidence. The installment is Kalayakgosi’s second book. Her first one was titled, Waiting For Your Season and was published and launched in May 2021. It was published by Poetic Blood Publishers. Kalayakgosi said the book specifically relates to waiting and also highlights knowing one’s strengths and weaknesses. She said it encouraged readers to persevere. She added that the book summarised the importance of waiting for the right season because it has a price. “It is my life experience, how I waited patiently and met the right partner to marry. It defines marriage as the legal union of a husband and wife. I would like to grow higher and become an international author, even go beyond limits like becoming a life coach, motivational speaker, editor and publisher of my own company and being a storyteller, to excel and become popular and do my passion full time,” Kalayakgosi explained. Kalayakgosi is also a professional poet who is registered with COSBOTS and CIPA. She works at the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education.
