Jazz legend Ntsholeng Seetso also known as Citie has released a new album following his debut, Initiation in 2005. The 41-year-old singer’s new album, The City Is Mine has 10 beautiful songs namely Bo Marata Helele, Tlotlang Ngwao, Mmapula, Motho wa Mme, The City Is Mine, Manyana, Mosadi, O Nkisa Le Naga, Banyana and Borukutlhi.

“This is my comeback album after being quiet for a few years.  It has 10 original compositions that were all done by me.  Unlike in my past debut album, I have introduced singing in The City Is Mine,” he said proudly.

Although he is singing in his new album, Citie still maintains his tradition of rich melodies and improvisation with his bass guitar.  He said he was inspired to sing by the fact that he is good at writing lyrics and that he wanted to diversify his music and reach a wider audience.  He added that he had also observed that music without singing could be monotonous. In this album, most of Citie’s songs are sung in Setswana.  The only song he sings in English is the title track, The City Is Mine, where he sings about himself. In the track he talks about reclaiming his spot as the city’s premier musician.  The songs further talk of his comeback to do what he enjoys and loves, which is music.  In that song, he features hip-hop artists Qubeo and Samba T. Bo Marata Helele is a song about nosy people who are always interested in other people’s business while they fail to keep their houses in order.  Tlotlang Ngwao is a call for people to respect and protect Setswana culture.  It features Moabi Mogorosi who recites a poem in the song.  Citie’s song Mmapula is a love song.  It’s a song where a man is promising a beautiful girl, heaven and earth.  He tells the girl that if she accepts his proposal he will buy her a train. On the other hand, Motho Wa Mme is a wedding song that has a township Afro Jazz feel. It is about a guy declaring that he is ready to settle down, get married and dedicate all his love to a deserving young beauty.
