A number of aspiring models were disappointed at the Miss Botswana auditions as they failed to meet the required 1.67 metres to qualify for the beauty competition.

The final auditions were held at Gaborone International Conference Centre (GICC) last weekend. In the registration room there was an instrument, which was used to measure aspirants’ height and those who did not meet the pageant’s required height were turned away.

“Even though we have been quite vocal about the height issue, the young women who were not tall still showed up to try their luck in high heels.  I assume they thought it would help. Their hearts were broken,” Miss Botswana media director, Tshepo Maphanyane said.
