FRANCISTOWN: One Baliki, a self-taught, environmentally conscious visual artist based in Maun has noted that although painting was not always her primary source of solace, it did help her get through hard times and tough times financially.

Baliki, who was born into a family of seven from Mathangwane, told Arts&Culture that art has come as a rescue to her.

That was when she was feeling hopeless and on the verge of committing suicide.
