The ‘forefathers’ of gospel music, Mmereki Marakakgoro and Phempheretlhe Pheto are by far the best gospel singers. There is no doubt that they still have what it takes to give any gospel show the ‘oomph’ it seems to have lost over the years.

The duo proved worthy legends of local gospel music on Saturday night at Boipuso Hall as they dished out spiritually uplifting renditions and took the masses way back when mainstream gospel took off.

The festival that was organised by Kagiso Morebodi of the Remmogo Organisation celebrated the first-ever annual Independence Gospel Music Festival. What a way to kick-start independence festivities, with the legends who paved way for other artists!
