Dancehall DJ Mickey aims for the sky

DJ Mickey de Saussure may be shining like a diamond in the deejaying world but the 27-year-old says success was not handed to him on a silver platter.

Otherwise known as Michael Kabo Luke, DJ Mickey said that he had to work hard in the beginning and persevered through out the years.  Growing up in Molepolole, it never occurred to him that he will one day be famous for skills he once considered just a hobby.

He recently told Showbiz that he decided to take the less travelled route and be a Dancehall DJ. "Our country has less dancehall DJs so it only made sense that I bridge the gap.  There is a famous saying (by Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist, lecturer and poet) that goes 'do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path' and leave a trial.  That is how I ended up here. It is also safe to say that Dancehall is growing and continues to receive a fair amount of air play like other genres," he said.
