Thousands of fun lovers were thrilled at the inaugural Colour Run that was held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on Saturday.

The event, which started in the morning, had everyone looking colourful as they were splashed with different colours before the 5km run. Sky Girls, a youth group, had a stall along the 5km route while local group, Zumba performed at the event where participants were splashed with more colour in powder form. The group’s performance was a showcase of its dancing skills. Children also had fun on the day as the organisers had provided jumping castles for them. One reveller, Mashia Koloi said she enjoyed the event.

“This is an amazing experience; first of its kind in this country,” she mused. “I really enjoyed it especially my kids who enjoyed throwing paint at each other and for once without me shouting at them.” One of the event organisers, Bright Gumbochuma described the event as successful. “The turn-up was amazing; people came in large numbers than we expected and we ended up running out of mechandise.”
