Bhembe explained to Arts & Culture in an interview that the album is part of a transformative project comprising a book, a music album, and a live experience. “It’s about healing, rediscovering, growing, and creating... both personally and as a community,” he explained. He further said that the project seeks to help people, especially within the Zion (Chukuchuku) community, reconnect with their roots, heal from within, and step into a renewed sense of purpose through the power of music, storytelling, and faith. “It’s a journey back to the source, where spirituality and creativity meet to inspire transformation and unity,” he said. According to Bhembe, the album is titled ‘Izembe’, which is a Zulu word that means ‘Axe’ - a symbol of strength, truth, and transformation.
He explained that the album represents cutting away the old, breaking barriers, and shaping a new path of healing and revelation. He said the music album brings these pillars to life. Featuring 14 powerful tracks, it includes collaborations with South African music legends from Zion and offers a rich, spiritual, and musical journey that speaks to the heart and soul. Bhembe noted that the music uses sound as a tool for healing and transformation, making it both a message and medicine. Furthermore, Bhembe explained that the book serves as the foundation of the project. He highlighted that the book is built around four transformative pillars - Heal, Discover, Grow, and Create, each represents a stage of inner evolution. Moreover, he explained that through these pillars, readers are invited to release emotional and generational wounds, reconnect with their true selves and heritage, learn and evolve through new perspectives, and finally, live out their purpose and highest potential. Bhembe said the launch event promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring performances from the Creative Arts Ensemble, the Botswana Zion Mass Choir, and international musician Mpho Sebina.
