Friday marked the premiere of the annual tour of Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Bands In Concert Style as they performed to a capacity crowd including President Ian Khama and Commander of the BDF Lieutenant General Gaolathe Galebotswe at the SSKB Auditorium.

Explaining the objective of the concert, in BTV's Montsho Mogadla's heavy accent, one of the soldier comedians announced on stage; "The aim of the tour is not to buy guns and bombs but to raise money for charity". He had the audience in stitches when closing his public service announcement intermission with, "Montsho Mogadla, BTV news, hatwi rhe ha khae hu ne ha?"

The show opened with some great classics presented by the Military & Pipe Band under the stewardship of Lt Colonel P Modise. Franz von Suppe's 1866 Light Cavalry was preceded by John Phillip Sousa's Semper Fidelis and the Scottish bagpipe players joined in the in the rendition of In A Sentimental Mood by the great Duke Ellington.
