Botswana is gearing up for a moment of continental pride as its representative, Tumelo Balogi, prepares to take the stage at the Miss Curvy Africa Finale, scheduled for December 6, 2025, in Nigeria.

The national hopeful steps into the spotlight, carrying not only her personal dreams but also the collective hopes of a country eager to see its beauty, culture, and identity celebrated on the African platform. For her, the opportunity marks a defining chapter in both her personal and professional journey. She describes representing Botswana as a privilege that goes far beyond pageantry. ‘’Representing the country at Miss Curvy Africa is both a personal honour and a professional milestone to me. Personally, it means carrying the pride of my nation, showcasing the beauty, resilience, and diversity of our women, to embrace their uniqueness and to know that confidence is the true definition of beauty,’’ she said. Professionally, she believes that the platform elevates her role in society and broadens the impact she can make as a cultural and social ambassador.

‘’This platform positions me as a voice for inclusivity and empowerment, opening doors to collaborations, advocacy work, and leadership opportunities,’’ she noted. Balogi sees the completion not merely as a contest, but as an opportunity for her to be part of a growing African movement that champions representation and body positivity. Her motivation to join Miss Curvy Africa was rooted in a deep desire to reshape how society views plus-size women. ‘’What inspired me was a deep desire to challenge and prune away the negative perceptions surrounding plus-size women and our fashion sense,’’ she explained. Her advocacy is shaped by personal experiences, including the challenges she faced growing up. She recalls being body-shamed because of her size and height. ’’I was often called funny names, and those experiences, though painful, taught me resilience and the importance of self-worth,’’ she shared. As part of her preparation for the finale, she has focused on discipline, confidence-building, and enhancing her stage presence.
