A snowstorm of spoken word approaches Maitisong

There is nothing like spitting a blizzard of spoken words to heat up a poetry hungry audience. In a country like Botswana with a peculiar reading culture, the only way to make a creative expression is using the power of voice and words.

In its 29th year, the biggest arts festival in Botswana, Maitisong Festival, once again provides local poets with an opportunity to tell their own stories through Slam Poetry at Thapong Visual Arts Centre on April 13 at 7pm.

This year the American Embassy will bring New York City based poet, Miles Hodges, to join locals for the poetry slam.  Hodges is a 25-year old spoken-word performer and program developer at Rikers.
