Chiefs To Elect An Interim Committee

Mochudi Centre Chiefs general membership on Saturday resolved to hold an annual general meeting on August 17 to elect an interim committee, which will lead the Kgatleng giants going forward.

The club has for the past years seen peace elude it, with two factions led by Raymond Tsheko and Ramocha Tsieng respectively fighting for control of the club. The team managed to hold its first meeting on Saturday at Molefhi Senior Secondary School since their relegation to the lower division. The two warring factions have since reached a common ground after Kgosi Bana Sekai Linchwe managed to reconcile the two.

At the meeting, which he attended, Sekai urged the general membership “to forget the past” and hold an AGM for the purpose of electing an interim committee as the team prepares for the start of league season.

The interim committee would be tasked with making preparations for an elective AGM where a substantive committee would be elected. The members also resolved that the interim committee would also look into the team’s constitution and make recommended revisions as it is said to be outdated.

Both Tsheko and Ramocha who have been running parallel committees told the gathering that their terms have ended and would not seek re-election.

Tsheko told the gathering that the team currently has no asserts as it has been relying on handouts from good Samaritans. He said the incoming committee’s immediate task will be to

register players who will take the team back to the Premier League.

“We do not have any asserts. No office, no office chairs, desks, or anything because we relied on handouts from good Samaritans. The league is starting in September but the team has no players, as we speak, no home ground, because our old field is dilapidated. This team needs money for player registration. Just before the beginning of the season, we need at least P75 000 but bear in mind that the transfer window is closing on August 21,” he said.

He said the team would have to be united to restore the club to its glory days. Ramocha said they called Kgosi Sekai Linchwe to intervene and reconcile the two factions because they realised it had contributed to the team’s fall. He reiterated the need for the general membership to cooperate and bring peace back to the club.

Meanwhile, Kgosi Sekai Linchwe advised members to be careful of whom they elect into office next month. He stated that the membership should always demand those in office to account.

“Forget the past and move on. This team needs you to work together and take it back to where it belongs,” he said
