Extension Gunners and Gaborone United (GU) played to a dull 0-0 draw in a BTC Premiership encounter played at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The draw stretches Gunners’ winless streak to six games with the Peleng Boys having only collected a point in six games.

Both sides came into the match marred by off-field issues. Gunners have suspended six of their key players for miscount while the Reds have been hit by players’ strikes owing to outstanding dues. With both sides desperate for maximum points on the afternoon, the first quarter was evenly contested and locked at the back.

Gunners tried to unlock the GU defence using speedy wingers, Mogomotsi Ditshotlo and Baokeditswe Talane. In the 25th minute, Mmoloki Kebalepile’s free kick was saved by Goitseone Phoko. Kebalepile released Bakang Tsholang with a through ball, the 21-year-old striker was denied by Phoko on a one-on-one situation. With either side failing to hit the back of the net, the game went into the break level at 0-0.

Just three minutes into the second half, Mothusi Cooper intercepted a back pass to Phoko. He laid to Tsholang but the striker once failed to beat Phoko. Gunners had another chance
