Where Have All Ex-Shashe River School Students Gone?

It was a cloudy and humid day and I had hoped to catch up with fellow alumni, former teachers and other staff members. Now a scribe with more than 20 years in the field, the last time I was at Shashe was in 1986 just after the last examination paper. I had never set foot again in the school, not because I hated it but simply that my paths have never taken me to the school since then.What surprised me were the red concrete structures around the school; the dining hall on the right and a multi-purpose hall on the left. Where the multi-purpose hall stood used to be a stable for mules, which were used to transport mail and other freight.
Further down were three massive white marquee tents. I tried peering beyond these tents with the hope of espying grass-thatched dormitories in which we resided, but there were none.
