Underage student absolves man of rape charge

FRANCISTOWN:  The police are likely to institute fresh investigations into a rape case involving an underaged student after a 36 year-old man from Chadibe village was absolved of the offence.

The man was accused of raping the 16-year-old Form Three student in February last year in Chadibe. The Monitor's own investigations have found out that the man was apparently freed from the crime after the student recanted her initial statement following cajoling  by her peers to finger the right culprit.
