The gladiators of the BDP factional wars

Over the past few weeks, Batswana have been given a peep into the morass that is the politics of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

It is progressively getting seedy but last weekend, the soulless party politics sunk to the gutters during the launches of Vice- President, Mompati Merafhe in Mahalapye West and Tati West legislator, Samson Moyo in Matshelagabedi.

After the weekend happenings, it would be extremely hard for the BDP to harp on the tired tune of 'factions have been banished in our party' anymore. Botswana's 'Good Old Party's' dirty red threadbare garment was dragged in the mud in public for all to see and spat on.It is ironic that President Ian Khama was brought into the BDP to exorcise it of the ghost of factionalism but in Mahalapye, he was in his element stoking the fires of division.
