The day striking workers invaded Tonota

FRANCISTOWN: It is a somewhat chilly Wednesday morning, another day members of the Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) are congregating for their on-going strike for a 16 percent increase in their salaries.

At the sports ground overlooking the A1Francisown-Gaborone Road, adjacent the Phase IV community hall and the Chedu Choga shopping complex in Block 4, they receive with indignation news that the Industrial Court judge, Tebogo Maruping has ordered essential services workers  back to work pending their appeal hearing in July. 

They are in no mood to back down. In fact they vow that the order to go back to work does not hold water with them."Nobody is going anywhere. If it means sitting here until next year, so is it," an announcement is made though loudspeakers by one of the BOFEPUSU leaders.
