The day I tasted donkey meat

FRANCISTOWN: Never in my lifetime had I ever imagined that I would one day eat donkey meat, let alone find it palatable.

On the contrary, I would make an unconscious vow to myself that in visiting areas where donkey meat is rampantly devoured, I would be most careful about what I put in my mouth.

To me this animal was repulsive considering that it never runs short of scratching and will often spot ugly wounds. In addition, the donkey was the mode of transport used by the Lord, Jesus Christ, so there was something sacred about it. So to partake of it was out of the question. That was before I moved to Chadibe village, a few kilometres from Francistown.
