Shooting practice with BDF officers

It was a blistering cold Thursday morning when journalists from various media houses left Sir Seretse Khama Barracks (SSKB) by bus for Shoshong Botswana Defence Force (BDF) camp.

The purpose of our trip was to witness the end of the three weeks peacekeeping exercise conducted by BDF and their French counterparts. Though it was still early, the mood in the bus was very high but yours truly decided to sleep. Being the only woman in the bus, I just could not keep up with the pace of my colleagues.

We arrived in Mahalapye at nine o'clock and proceeded to Shoshong. The army camp is not far from Shoshong but because we were using a gravel road the journey seemed so long. After enduring the bumpy ride for what seemed like forever, we finally arrived. This is where the business of the day was going to be conducted.
