For more than four decades, he has unconsciously been involved in the struggle to set humanity free from the psychological chains that continues to force people to define and divide the world of work into two: one a male sphere and the other a female sphere. He is actually helping in the process of deconstructing the social constructs that prescribe different roles for different genders and proudly sugar coat that through the terms such as 'gender roles' or 'cultural dictates'.
76-Year-old T.S Sanga is no ordinary old man, he is an entrepreneur of repute. This father of five is a tailor; a field that for a long time has been viewed as a female preserve. He is originally from Malawi but came to Botswana a long time ago in the pre-independence era. He is now a popular resident of Kgaphamadi location in Francistown.
"I started my business in 1962 in Mahalapye," he says as he gazes into the ceiling to retrieve the facts from his old memory. He discloses slowly: " I have learnt this trade from other people who were doing it before me."
