Of political issues and the courts of laws

The failure of our political parties in maintaining political stability and reigning in on official excesses have left people looking for answers elsewhere - the courts. A threat of 'judicialisation' of political conflict as such takes off the spark from the game.

Politics has always been a game of conflict, appeal to the masses, public opinion appealing reasoning and numbers; not the stiff-necked logic of technicalities that plays itself out in the courts. Politicians have to be equipped with the art of public persuasion through which they can swing moods and the general membership to their side.

If a politician is able to gain enough numbers, then, their views would normally stand. The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and the Botswana National Front (BNF), and our society in general are quickly turning to the mindset 'talk to my lawyers', thus issues of simple logic which reasonable people can and should resolve amicably end up in court.
