Nothing charming about Chad

N'DJAMENA, CHAD: It was a gruelling journey from the onset. A journey initially planned to take off at 10am with cheerful Zebras supporters almost turned dreary as at least 100 supporters, wore long faces for lengthy hours as the N'djamena bound plane only took-off 12 hours later.

Flag-waving fans left Gaborone at 4pm and as the bus drove through the streets of the city motorists responded with blaring hooters.

The fans filled the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport just before 5:30pm and there was an air of optimism around. Fans sang, danced and some were edgy to fly to an unknown destination for the first time.
