Mugabe's foreign travels draining nation's coffers

In a feeble attempt to ingratiate himself with the rank and file and in an effort to paint the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) as feeble and anti workers, Robert Mugabe has been spouting nonsensical populist rhetoric, promising civil servants salary increases without advice from the Ministry of Finance, which happens to be headed by the MDC.

The issue here is not whether or not our civil servants deserve a salary increase.

They do, indeed.
What Mugabe is doing is to make it look as if Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC are the ones denying public service employees the salary increment they deserve. I hope that public service employees, especially Mugabe's long abused teachers, are able to see how they are being used to circumvent meaningful adjustments in their favour.
