Masire Recalls His Challenges In Office

Former president Sir Ketumile Masire says Festus Mogae did not consult him when he was still the permanent secretary to the president (PSP).

In his memoirs Very Foolish or Very Brave, Masire says there was a big difference in how Mogae worked as compared to his predecessor, Phillip Steenkamp.

"Every morning and evening, Steenkamp would go through a few things of which he wanted to inform me, or on which he wanted my view or a decision. Mogae, on the other hand, kept to himself, and I had to show I needed him before he would appear; he didn't consult others - even me, his boss.
