TONOTA:There seems to be more than meets the eye to Maokaneng Bontshetse's sudden announcement that he is defecting from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to the Botswana National Front (BNF).

This was  revealed by sources at Kopano House this week. Bontshetse, a long-time BDP activist, is among other eight card carrying members who defected from the ruling party earlier this week. This group was welcomed into the BNF fold by the party's former secretary general Mohammed Khan on Sunday.

During the rally, Bontshetse maintained that he had defected from the BDP to ally with the BNF because the BDP has reneged on its plan to serve the masses and is run by a bunch of self-serving, greed politicians'. However, sources close to the events have revealed the contrary.
