In October, we will be contesting the 10th general elections when we seek another fresh mandate from Batswana. Since our first electoral victory in 1965, we have been returned to office on account of our ability to respond to the needs of the citizenry. We have always preached a basic message, easily understood by our people to the effect that as a government we stand for development and an improvement of the life conditions of Batswana.
Our track record bears us out. Since we assumed stewardship of this nation, the life of the average Motswana has undergone tremendous positive change. As we prepare for the general elections, our message to the electorate is that we still have not completed our mission of national development.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
