Koma's legacy shall linger on

In a week dominated by the news of KENNETH KOMA's death, staff writer TSHIRELETSO MOTLOGELWA traces the footsteps of the legendary figure and finds his absence the real mark of his presence

It is early in the week. Koma is on Radio Botswana. Koma the topic, not the man, but then of course the topic is but the man.  And the man is Kenneth Shololo Goabamong Koma who had been reported early Monday morning as having passed away earlier in the morning.  It is Tuesday morning. It is slightly chilly but the sun will get hot sooner and the airwaves are already buzzing with call-in listeners describing the man, as they knew him.

The announcer is urging the callers to share with the nation what the opposition ideologue, 'father-of-opposition-politics', street philosopher and 'the man with the gift of the gab' Kenneth Goabamong Shololo Koma. Opinions vary, true to the character that was Koma but everyone is in agreement that his passing away is indeed a great loss to the country.
