How step-children affect relationships

FRANCISTOWN: Children seem to be the havoc launchers in relationships.

Many people believe that if one is willing to be in a long-term relationship with someone who has a child, be it a man or woman, they need to tell the other person whether or not they accept the child.

In fact it seems some partners are taken by surprise when it comes to disclosing issues of children. Some, on the other hand, claim to love their partners but still have difficulty accepting stepchildren. Lenngaane Monametsi was once in a relationship with a man who had two children and said she suffered trauma: "I had no problem with loving and taking care of my partner's children, but their mother was just a nuisance to me. She is the one who sparked problems in our relationship despite taking good care of her own children even better than her. She also used the children as spies."
