The relationship between man and the sun is one of life and death. Man looks up to the sun as a life-giving force.
Our semi-desert country, Botswana, which is popular for its Kalahari Desert, has a land area of 585,371 square kilometres. The desert, which extends beyond Botswana, covers a large area of the country, its sand particles storing vast amounts of solar energy from the sun. Information from the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Affairs indicates that Botswana receives 3,200 hours of sunshine annually or 21 milijoules per square mtre per day.

Bathusi Letlhare is a ranch farmer and owns Xarojenaa Farm in the Sandveldt 60 kilometres north of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, a vast protected area the size of France.
