As I reflect on International Women's Day (IWD), I am struck by the powerful theme "Give To Gain". It is a call to action that resonates deeply with me, especially when I think about the women of Botswana.

This theme is about embracing a mindset of generosity, collaboration and shared progress and I believe it is exactly what our country needs. In this era of hardship, it is very vital that as women we stick together and help each other.

Growing up in Botswana, I have seen firsthand the incredible strength and resilience of our women. From rural villages to urban towns, Batswana women are the backbone of our communities, working tirelessly to support their families and uplift those around them. And most of our women are single parents who are doing a good job raising successful children single-handedly. Yet, despite their contributions, many women face significant barriers to accessing opportunities, resources and decision-making spaces.
