Last week a Member of Parliament (MP) chided women's rights activists because they think they are educated and feel they take on the world.

However, the newly elected President of Emang Basadi, is undeterred by such uncharitable remarks. "At my age I am not interested to be a rebel," she said, adding that she owes her allegiance to this country.

The Nshakashogwe-born Molokomme describes herself as somebody who is interested in issues of equality and development.  Equality, she explains, not in terms of excluding men. "When we are talking about gender, we are also referring to issues affecting men."
Molokomme, who comes from a family of two girls and one boy, says she did not experience any form of discrimination when she was growing up. She says there was no difference in the roles that were played by the girls and their brother. She used to take the cattle for ploughing.
