SELEBI-PHIKWE: The newly-appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of SPEDU Mokubung Mokubung has promised to hit the ground running as he is inspired to do something for Selebi-Phikwe and its hinterland so that the country can see what the company is really up to.

Interacting with stakeholders in the mining town recently, Mokubung said he is looking into bringing big investments in the area and this will be done in collaboration with other stakeholders.

On his to-do-list is an issue that literally has been smoke in the eyes of Phikwe residents for years: The smoke in the eyes of Phikwe residents!

For too long, the state of many public schools has been a source of shame. We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously.
